TRX Suspension Straps – What makes ‘em so great
I’ve had my TRX straps for about 6 months now, and I can honestly say that the new hasn’t worn off yet. I’ve bought myself an eye bolt and screwed it into the ceiling (instead of purchasing the $35 mount from TRX) in my living room. As a result, my youngest daughter, which is 12, can’t walk by it without playing on it in some way. That alone speaks for it’s durability. She stands on the handles and swings mostly, but she also does some of the actual exercises. My wife has a routine that I’ve put together for her that she does regularly that only takes about 10 – 15 minutes depending on how she’s feeling that day.
On to my point, what makes ‘em so great?
Several reasons: you can wad ‘em up into the carry bag and take ‘em with you anywhere, you only need a single anchor point (all other suspension straps require 2 anchor points, or at least 2 straps to attach to the same point), increase intensity of normal body weight exercises, constantly working the core, go heavy or light with simple, quick shifts of body position, work out through all three planes of movement – forward, side, and diagonal, move from exercise to exercise seamlessly, no need for a spotter, the cheapest home gym you’ll ever purchase.
There are more reasons, but those are the top ones for me.
Here’s my most recent workout:
3 round circuit – 1 minute rest between rounds.
Atomic push-ups (45 seconds)
Rows (45 seconds)
Tricep Extension (30 seconds)
Curls (30 seconds)
Deep Body Weight Squats (45 seconds)
Dynamic Sprinters Starts (30 seconds each leg)
Scorpions (30 seconds each leg)
